1. Sledding, snow angels and snowman. Snow coloring is a great way they can add some color to all the white. Just use a chemical free empty spray bottle, fill with water and food color of their choice. -- only if weather is not too cold. Keep them bundled!
2. Age appropriate games
3. Homemade playdough Recipe
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon cooking oil
1 cup water
Food coloring as needed but I prefer Koolaid
Mix all ingredients in a heavy pan
Cook on medium heat. Stir constantly while cooking for 3 minutes. It will begin to pull away from pan when done.
Remove from heat and let it cool till warm to the touch. Mix like you would if you were kneading dough! Do this until smooth consistency.
For storage use airtight containers. The dough will keep for weeks.
4. Craft supplies and a good variety of things for hours of creating
5. Books of their favorite characters or series.
6. Have them help cook a snow themed meal. Pizza in the shape of a snowman, they can put their toppings on to create the snowman.
7. Make a bird feeder with pine cones. Spread peanut butter on with a high quality bird seed to roll them in. You can cut a string to hang from a tree in a window you can all see out of, to watch them eat! You can also use old toilet paper rolls to put the peanut butter and seeds on. Just cut a hole on two sides and stick string through to hang.
8. Crayons and coloring books or print out their favorite character on free printable sites. A good place to go is the website of their favorite characters.
9. Puzzles are a great activity for the whole family to do.
10. Do a clean out of toys and books they no longer use and have them box them up for charity or a family in need. Kids love to help others!
